This is a parody on Stairway to Heaven and Freebird (the 2 most requested songs by drunk people at clubs)
The message is a public service announcement for homeless pigeons who live under the freeway bridges.

FREEWAY TO BIRD HEAVEN
By Selia Qynn 2/2002

There’s a pigeon who’s known
By her freeway bridge home.
Where she lives with the beggars down under.
But she gets what she needs,
And she finds and she feeds,
On the garbage thrown out on the curbside.
And she’s flying on a freeway to bird heaven.

One day she ventures aloft,
All feathery soft
To the upside of under-bridge living.
She doesn’t get far,
When an oncoming car
Transforms her into the unrecognizable.
Ooh, ooh, such a blunder.
Ooh, ooh, such a blunder.

And as if she could,
Like so much Hollywood,
She keeps flying up higher and higher.
Unaware of her plight,
She flies into the light,
Through a tunnel with onlooking bird friends.
And she’s flying on a freeway to bird heaven.

If you see pigeons that are homeless
Don’t be alarmed now.
It’s just an inner city sprinkling.
It can be painful when you see it
But in the long run
You cannot ever change the road they’re on.
Ooh, ooh, such a blunder.

And as they live under the road,
Where car are buzzing to and fro
There roosts a pigeon we all know
Who sees a light and wants to go…
And she’s flying on the freeway to bird heaven.

So she wont’ be here tomorrow
But we’ll still remember her.
The other birds won’t be in sorrow.
It isn’t like they ever were.

If she had stayed here with beggars,
And played it safe and had good luck.
She never would have been a free bird.
And you know that would really suck.
Lord knows that would really suck.

And she’s flying on the freeway to bird heaven
