AFTER MIDNIGHT
by Selia Qynn 2000

A blanket of snow blends on the horizon
Into a white and starless sky.
I keep these images to myself
In keeping with the lonely night.

Shades of innocence calm my spirit.
A fallen tree lies on the grass,
Just as my soul lies naked, alone,
Hinting of the ghost of Christmas past.

In the solitude, my thoughts still turn.
And days of future speak to me.
Of laughter yet to bless the air.
And music that is yet to be.

Where are you now, oh beautiful dreamer?
And what do you see behind closed eyes?
Can a dream deliver you to my presence
From this far horizon and starless sky?
