DESIRE FLED
by Selia Qynn 6/2003
This poem is three exercises in reduction -
attempting to say fewer and fewer words, yet convey the same feeling or thought.
1.
Desire fled on wings of ice-colored sorrow
In a snowy sky, her joy lay frozen
When all she wanted was to softly fall
Deliciously upon the love first chosen
2.
Desire fled with ice-colored wings
Her joy frozen above
Wishing only to fall
On her delicious love
3.
Desire’s wings
Are frozen above
Wanting only
To fall in love.
